Heather Bond, PhD
Dr Heather Bond
Hello, I’m Heather, and my journey to becoming a therapist has been shaped by a deep connection to nature and a passion for supporting others. I grew up on a farm on a windy island, where the rhythms of the natural world and the open landscape nurtured my curiosity and creativity. This early connection to the outdoors has profoundly influenced my approach, allowing me to combine several of my passions in my work today.
In 2010, I made the life-changing decision to leave my career in IT and retrain in complementary therapies, starting with teaching meditation to children. It was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made, sparking a journey of discovery and learning.
Over the years, I’ve pursued academic studies in mindfulness and counselling/psychotherapy, culminating in a PhD in Education in 2020. My research, sponsored by the Mindfulness Association, explored the impact of a mindfulness and self-compassion course I created for secondary school students.
Today, I work therapeutically with adults, teens, tweens, and children, offering talking therapy and therapeutic play. I have extensive experience supporting individuals facing a range of challenges, including Autism and ADHD, anxiety, low mood, depression, Emotionally Based School Avoidance (EBSA), gender, sexuality, and relationship diversity (GSRD), family relationship difficulties, body image concerns, and complex relationships with food.
My nature-based approach allows me to weave together my love for the outdoors, therapeutic work, and a belief in the healing power of connection. Whether indoors or in nature, I offer a safe, compassionate space where individuals can explore their challenges, build resilience, and reconnect with their strengths.
